Ministy School - Endless, without graduation - How could we?
by 4thgen inyesturday, i was talking to a friend and she said that in order to get a degree from a local college, they require a completed a public speaking course.
i said that was no problem, because i had been in a public speaking school for 40 years.
she looked at me like i had three heads.

When we were kids my sister started crying and said "I don't want to give anymore talks!! What kind of school do you have to go to and NEVER graduate from?"

I now have a law degree!
by digderidoo inhi guys, i don't really post on here much anymore, having been on here since 2001. this site helped me out in the early days and has been a great support system for all of my past jw issues.
like many others i was discouraged from an education so that i could window clean and pioneer in my youth during the 80's.
having spent many years post my jw exit in alcoholism and periods of drugs, i decided to clean myself up 7 years ago by attending aa, i was still a window cleaner ... at the time i wrote extensively on here about my issues.

Ferguson Shooting (Is my thinking on this all wrong.......)
by out4good3 ini think everyone here can agree that walking down the street, even in the middle of the street, is not cause for having a clip emptied in your ass......... i can understand how the black community would be outraged by the injustice of seeing another black man dead in the street at the hands of the police under mysterious circumstances....... i hope that i'm not succumbing to the attempts to assinate the already well impuned character of the dead man...... however.
i can't help but think that this could all have been avoided by exercising the proper discretion with fore-knowledge of the disadvantages people of color have when they are dealing with law enforcement in the united states.
it is not as if this disadvantage has only since recently came to light.

You two know exactly what my point is. There is no reason to jump to name calling before all the facts are out. Not speculation, not media hype, not pseudo-witnesses; FACTS. Vitriol spewed before that says more about the one doing the spewing than the people involved in the incident.
While I don't have a dog in this fight, I know what is fair and just.

The looting and rioting really should be treated as a separate issue created by an opportunistic criminal element.
EOM - Are you saying that one has to dress as if they are going out in field service to avoid raising suspicion???

I dare all those using coded language (i.e. thugs) to come from behind your sheets and use the language that you really want to use.
Not (necessarily) a fair statement is it?
I may not have high expectations of a petty thief like Michael Brown. But, I expect a lot more from law enforcement personnel. They are entrusted with public safety and order. This isn't Dodge City or the O.K. Corral.
And yes, we need to wait for the full story to come out. At this point, Michael Brown's bullying theft and Darren Wilson's use of force don't seem to balance.

weird: passing around literature fragments in prison
by Magnum ini dont have any specific references, but over the years i remember reading in the mags and hearing in talks stories of imprisoned jws who would somehow get a piece of a page of a jw magazine or an article or something like that and pass it around and get spiritually nourished by it as if it almost had a magical or supernatural nature.
does anybody else remember such?.
i always thought it just didnt make sense.

Those stupid prison -persecution stories serve one main purpose:
To guilt those not imprisoned or actively being persecuted into appreciating "Jehovah's loving provisions" by regular attending meetings and partaking of all the wonderful "spiritual food" given in the form of WT literature.
PS - One of my uncles has a prison route. He acts like he's back in the 60's/70s during the Vietnam war.
eta: I'm not saying that those imprisoned were stupid. They were deceived. WT only cared about them insomuch as it served to drum up the persecution complex among the JWs.

I had major anxiety problems. It felt like depression. I took a month's course of Clonazepam as needed. It helped me get a good night's sleep. After that I addressed my anxiety. Clonazepam helped me feel calm and in control. I haven't needed it since. But I will not hesitate to use it again if I can't pull it together.

OTWO yep that's pretty much how it was/is at mealtime. I absolutely hate crowds and confined spaces. Breakfast and dinner (lunch) were very stressful for me. Too many people, too rushed, too cramped... I was always so happy to go out to eat at lunch or just go back to our room and unwind for a few minutes.

It's True: You Never Really Know What A Person Is Going Through

we might think that they have it all but we really know nothing about their demons, their problems, their issues.
someone might be funny on the outside but be totally depressed from within..
